Global OT Solutions Architect - Decatur, IL
This is an exempt level position.
Would consider placing this position in any large ADM manufacturing facility, but preferred locations include: Erlanger KY (near Cincinnati), Decatur IL. Other large ADM manufacturing locations are open for consideration.
Position Summary:
As a key member of the Operational Technology (OT) team, you will be responsible for advancing the capabilities and performance of network infrastructure within the ADM OT/Process Automation (PA) environment.
You will work closely with OT engineers and PA engineers, and partner with key business segments, Global Technology (GT, which is ADM's IT dept.), and your global OT peers to provide enhanced plant support and high-quality project delivery.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the definition of technology architecture roadmaps, standards, and reference architecture patterns
- Lead or support cross-functional solution design efforts involving applications, cloud platforms, data and analytics, networks, and security
- Take accountability for solution requirement definitions, conceptual, and high- and low-level design artifact generation
- Support design reviews
- Lead reviews of solutions to audit against design requirements
- Help maintain a roadmap of technical architecture services
- Develop expertise in areas of technical need (e.g., for emerging technologies in cloud)
- Support Digital team minimum viable product exercises
- Help maintain and develop technical standards
- Help develop cross-functional technical services, including DevOps pipelines, test automation, infrastructure as code, digital-self-service
- Support vendor reviews, including vetting cloud and SaaS vendors
- Manage adherence to defined architecture standards throughout cloud and on prem development lifecycles
- Provide subject matter expertise to design, develop, and implement complex architecture in alignment with Enterprise Architecture’s direction and standards
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends and utilize this knowledge to educate both IT and the business on opportunities to build better target architectures that support and drive business decisions
- Support IT Enterprise governance functions (RFI’s, vendor risk assessments, etc…)
- Carry out continuous personal development, ensuring technical skills are kept up to date and non-technical skills are gained and improved
- Provide boots on the ground support for ADM plants –emergency and break fix, planned installations, limited personal computer/end user support, etc.
- Some travel and on-call work are expected as part of this position
Required Skills:
- 6+ years of IT experience is mandatory.
- 3+ years of IT technical design experience across applications, data, cloud infrastructure, networks, IT systems, and security
- 2+ Years of solution technical design involving Microsoft Azure, including both high-level solution design, and detailed technical design
- Ability to generate high and low level solution design artifacts involving Azure cloud and on prem solutions
- Experience conducting design reviews and architecture reviews
- Broad understanding of modern integration architectures
- Solid understanding of and ability to describe modern architecture design patterns
- Solid understanding of modern data and analytics design patterns
- Solid grasp of IT governance and controls
- Experience with Azure and AWS infrastructure as a service (IaaS) / platform as a service (PaaS)
- Knowledge of continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) tools
- Strong interpersonal collaboration skills and ability to work across technology domains
- Strong verbal skills and ability to communicate both upward and down
- Excellent technical design skills
- Experience in supporting plant operations and 24/7 operating requirements
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Software deployments.
- Knowledge of Microsoft development platforms
- Knowledge of Mobile development platforms
- Knowledge of Microsoft Data and Analytics platforms
- Knowledge of automation platforms
- Knowledge of serverless platforms
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline
- Experience supporting enterprise-level technology operations and services, including experience managing the lifecycle, maintenance, and upgrades of network technologies
- Azure Solution Architect certification
- Ability to travel or work on-call as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Bachelors degree (or higher) in a technical discipline such as computer science, engineering, etc.
- 1 “associate” level certification in Azure among the following: Cloud Security Architect, Data Architect, Application Architect, Analytics Architect
- Technical experience with Process Automation systems, including Rockwell, Emerson DeltaV or Valmet (Novatech) D/3, would be considered an asset for the position
