Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Business Development/ Tradelane Manager to join our small but growing freight forwarding company in Hong Kong. The ideal candidate should have strong market knowledge and a well-established customer base, with deep expertise in the China trade across different types of transportation.
Responsibilities
• Market Research & Strategy: Conduct research to understand trends, challenges, and opportunities in the China trade. For a start, this role will help to develop strategies to improve our market position, starting with services from China to Hong Kong
• Customer Management: Use your existing customer relationships and build new ones to grow our client base. Ensure customers are happy through effective communication and service. You will also promote additional services like trucking, warehousing, 3PL, and local distribution.
• Operational Management: Oversee all logistics and operations for the China trade lane, including air, sea, and land transportation. Ensure smooth coordination between different transport modes.
• Performance Tracking: Monitor and analyze the performance of the trade lane, providing regular reports and suggestions for improvement.
• Compliance & Risk: Ensure all operations meet relevant regulations. Identify risks and take steps to reduce them.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with sales, operations, and customer service teams to ensure smooth service.
• You will report to the Country Sales Manager and collaborate with the Sales and General Manager on global freight forwarding opportunities.
Requirements
• Experience: At least 10 years of experience in sales/business development in freight forwarding, focusing on the China trade.
• Market Knowledge: Strong market knowledge and solid connections with customers and service providers are essential. Deep understanding of logistics, market trends, and regulations in China
• Customer Relationships: Proven ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Language Skills: Fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin, with good English skills.
• Education: Bachelors degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
