The role. Mercer Peace River has an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to fill the full-time, permanent position of Maintenance Technician Apprentice Industrial Mechanic (Millwright).
In this role, the Maintenance Apprentice Technician will be responsible for acquiring their Journeyperson certification while assisting MPR Maintenance with the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of mill equipment.
Role and Responsibilities
• Support of the continual Mission Zero journey, including all the expectations of this position
• Ensure compliance with Mercer Vision and Values.
• Responsible for assisting with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Mill equipment.
• Assist with and maintain equipment integrity and perform safe and efficient maintenance of all industrial machinery and equipment in accordance with established procedures.
• Execution and communicate daily regarding mechanical maintenance activities.
• Enter work requests in a timely fashion with detailed information
• Provide information to support the Maintenance Planners to plan and estimate work so it can be executed in an efficient and cost-effective manner, while minimizing the impact on operations and incurring unnecessary costs.
• Support and adhere to key processes such as the Management of Change (MOC), Problem-Solving Design Making (PSDM), Risk Assessment Matrix (RAM) and Integrity Management System (IMS)
• Active participation in incident investigations and the adherence of corrective actions to developing permanent solutions and ensuring your assigned tasks are completed in an acceptable time frame
• Review and apply continuous improvement to safe work practices, procedures, and standards to ensure safe and reliable work execution.
Qualifications and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Mechanical Technologist Diploma will be considered an asset.
• Previous participation in the RAP program within MPR will be considered an asset.
• Strong technical abilities and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret equipment specifications, engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables as required.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and a computerized maintenance management system, specifically Avantis is considered an asset.
• Pulp mill and industrial maintenance experience preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude with strong troubleshooting skills.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
• Proven safety-conscious individual.
• Strong understanding of maintenance and operations.

m. 5 : 00 p.m. This means you will enjoy a 3 day weekend every week.
Compensation is based on experience, qualifications and competency with a starting hourly rate range of $32.39-$56.04 , plus a 5% Average Regular Premium (ARP).
You will also start with three weeks (120 hours) of annual vacation, prorated based on your start date.
