Japanese Equity Specialty Sales (VP or Director) - 2301983

Job Summary
Under administrative direction, with a high level of autonomy, uses specialized knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to maintain and develop business relationships with assigned accounts. Manage all aspects of assigned accounts including advising clients on investment opportunities and recommending buying and selling of securities. Regular contact with internal and external customers is required to obtain, clarify, or provide facts or information. Influences strategic direction and develops tactical plans and completes diverse assignments with substantial latitude for un-reviewed actions or decisions. Extensive contact with Senior Management is required to provide comprehensive solutions to complex problems or needs.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Develops and maintains relationships with institutional clients and fellow internal professionals to facilitate efficient and effective client service.
  2. Disseminates timely marketing materials for Japanese equity products created by partner firm(s) and services targeted at institutional investors.
  3. Communicate with clients in alignment with guidelines in place for Sales Specialists, focusing on providing market commentary and referencing published research.
  4. Coordinate outreach to Japanese corporations and all forms of corporate access with the corporate access team.
  5. If in the course of duties you become aware of a data point that could impact US equities, share that information with Research and Specialty Sales.
  6. May take part in developing, motivating, and coaching sales team to meet the demands of institutional clients.
  7. Responds to inquiries from institutional investors about the department’s investment philosophies, products, and services.
  8. Develops sales goals and strategies to achieve goals incorporating suitability parameters derived from individual client investment policy statements.
  9. Works closely with clients’ investment personnel, advises clients on investment opportunities, and recommends buying and selling of securities.
  10. Generates new sales ideas and promotion of new products through written sales memos, proactive phone networking, and client meetings.
  11. Attends meetings and/or conferences to present ideas to institutional clients.
  12. Partners with other departments, senior management, and/or external parties to leverage sales and business opportunities.
  13. Provides reports to senior management.
  14. Stays abreast of financial news/issues that may affect stock and bond prices.
  15. Tracks and reviews performance on assigned accounts to ensure adding value.
  16. Researches and analyzes industries that are appropriate for assigned accounts.
  17. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of

  • Advanced concepts, practices, and procedures of research analysis.
  • Advanced investment concepts, practices, and procedures used in the securities industry.
  • Advanced concepts, practices, and procedures of institutional equity sales & sales trading.
  • Principles of banking and finance and securities industry operations.
  • Financial markets and products.
Skill in
  • High level customer service.
  • Identifying relationships, drawing logical conclusions, and interpreting results for use in decision-making.
  • Using technical/professional knowledge, interpersonal and sales skills to obtain customers’ commitment to ideas, services, or products.
  • Quantitative and analytical skills sufficient to assist in the development of corporate financial projections and equity valuation metrics.
  • Analyzing and interpreting financial statements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications to produce correspondence, reports, electronic communication, and spreadsheets.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field and a minimum of ten (10) years of institutional equity sales experience.
  • OR any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.
  • Experience working with foreign broker-dealers under 15a-6 strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Japanese preferred.
Licenses/Certifications
  • SIE required provided that an exemption or grandfathering cannot be applied.
  • FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses (or International Equivalent) required.
