Hours: Monday-Saturday 8am-5pm, with overtime as needed
Starting Pay rate: depending on experience, minimum of $15/hr
Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check!
Job Description
The Scrap Yard Torcher and Catalytic Converter Cutter is responsible for dismantling vehicles and other equipment using a cutting torch and other hand tools to extract non-ferrous metals, including catalytic converters. The torcher will also be responsible for ensuring that all materials are properly segregated, as well as maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Dismantle vehicles and other equipment using a cutting torch and other hand tools to extract non-ferrous metals, including catalytic converters.
• Ensure that all materials are properly segregated
• Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records and tracking the movement of materials.
• Foster positive relationships with customers and vendors to encourage repeat business and maintain a positive reputation in the industry.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding salvage yard operations.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment, including enforcing safety protocols and ensuring that all employees are adhering to environmental regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience using a cutting torch and other hand tools to dismantle vehicles and equipment.
• Knowledge of non-ferrous materials and their value.
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations regarding salvage yards.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions.
