Position Title: Director Equal Opportunity and Title IX

Contract Length: 12 months

Class Summary: College of the Mainland is currently seeking a Director Equal Opportunity and Title IX who understands and supports the mission of the College. The Director must be committed to fostering a campus environment free from sexual harassment and discrimination and will be responsible for compliance requirements under Equal Opportunity and Title IX. Responsibilities include oversight of alleged discrimination or sexual harassment complaints, maintaining and tracking required statistics, serving as the campus Title IX Coordinator, conducting investigations, developing Title IX education programs, maintaining training records, recommending policies, and overseeing campus Deputy Title IX Coordinator(s).

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience involving investigation and management of protected class-based complaints.

Preferred Education/Training/Experience: Juris doctor or other advanced degree in a related field. Prior experience as a Title IX Coordinator in an academic setting is preferred, as is experience in conducting training on relevant topics.

  1. Strong interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills with an ability to remain neutral and work effectively with a diverse community.
  2. Knowledge of state and federal civil rights laws and regulations including Title IX, Title VI, Title VII, VAWA, and ADA.
  3. Ability and experience in investigating discrimination and harassment complaints and managing multiple cases related to Title IX and other civil rights complaints.
  4. Effective project management, organization, and analytical skills.
  5. Strong presentation and facilitation skills with an emphasis on education and training.
  6. Strong written and oral communication skills.
  7. Ability to build relationships and establish collaborative partnerships.
  8. Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  9. Maintenance of professional qualifications through ongoing training and professional development.
  10. Ability to act independently, take initiative, and exercise sound judgment.

Job Duties:

  1. Respond to and provide intake on alleged discrimination, sexual harassment, and sexual violence claims; investigate, interview, and review documentation; compose formal internal reports and make recommendations.
  2. Advise on policy and procedure for non-discrimination and Title IX, prepare templates for investigations, and track report statuses.
  3. Conduct investigations of alleged discrimination and harassment complaints promptly and effectively.
  4. Develop, schedule, communicate, facilitate, and track training programs for employees and students.
  5. Coordinate, monitor, and track Title IX efforts across the College.
  6. Prepare and produce reports for the college President as required by Texas law.
  7. Develop and implement case management plans for discrimination complaints.
  8. Maintain a case management database to organize and track incidents.
  9. Represent the College at external professional organizations.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements: No or very limited physical effort required. Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

Minimum Salary Range: $71,252

Mid Point Salary Range: .

Maximum Salary Range: $96,190
