Join Our Team in the Dept of Neuroscience at Northwestern University

We are seeking applicants to join our group in the Dept of Neuroscience, Northwestern University, Chicago. Our research focuses on understanding how motor-related circuits are organized to integrate diverse signals and control movements, particularly ethological actions such as food handling.

We utilize various techniques including:

  1. In vivo and in vitro electrophysiology
  2. Imaging
  3. Optogenetics
  4. Viral labeling
  5. High-speed video
  6. Behavioral tracking

Familiarity with these techniques is welcome though not required. Experience with programming, data analysis, and instrumentation is recommended. Projects can be tailored based on experience and interest.

The training experience offers opportunities to branch out in various scientific and technical directions as projects evolve, and is geared toward supporting the trainee’s development as an independent scientist. Northwestern has excellent research facilities and a large and interactive neuroscience community.

We welcome applicants with:

  • An imminent or recent PhD in neuroscience or related fields
  • High-quality publications
  • A strong eagerness to think and work creatively towards understanding circuit-behavior relationships in the mammalian brain
