Locums First is currently seeking a Locum Housing Solicitor for a position in Kirriemuir.
Our client is an impressive L500 full-service practice known for its friendly and modern approach. They are looking for a Locum to join their team on a rolling contract lasting 3 to 6 months, offering flexibility in terms of both full-time and part-time hours.
Responsibilities: The role will entail a range of duties including:
• Managing approximately 200+ cases in collaboration with a Caseworker and Legal Assistant.
• Acting as the Sole Solicitor for Housing Disrepair cases, with a focus on effective client representation.
• Handling all aspects of legal work related to housing disrepair and litigation.
• Overseeing housing disrepair cases throughout pre-litigation and litigation stages.
• Managing Section 82 Environmental Protection Act 1990 cases.
• Ensuring compliance with the Housing Disrepair Pre-Action Protocol.
• Providing advice on managing risk related to complex and contentious legal issues.
• Representing the Council in court proceedings and conducting advocacy as needed.
• Negotiating and drafting complex and sensitive agreements and documents within the realm of Housing Disrepair and litigation, while offering clear case strategy.
• Assessing evidence pertaining to Housing Disrepair cases, determining prospects of success, and considering the public interest in pursuing matters.
Requirements:
• Qualified Lawyer (Solicitors, Barristers, and CILEX Fellows).
• Previous experience practicing in the field of Housing Law.
• Ability to adapt quickly to a locum role within a hybrid working environment.
• Capability to work independently within a dynamic team.
• Must hold a UK Solicitor qualification.
Working Days and Hours:
• Up to 5 days per week are available.
• Flexible working days from Monday to Friday.
• Options for flexible working hours.
• This is a long-term role, and part-time hours will also be considered.
