Reporting to the Master, we are recruiting a Technical Rating on a 3-month Fixed Term contract who will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of all machinery and electrical equipment onboard the vessel and carry out the role of GP Rating. Your Main Tasks
• To be familiar with details of vessel’s construction, machinery and operating characteristics
• Undertake relevant checks before departure on a sea passage ensuring that the vessel is in all respects prepared for the voyage, taking into account such factors as, stability, stress, trim and watertight integrity, ensures that there are sufficient bunkers for the voyage, including reserve
• Report any deficiencies to the Master and Maintenance Superintendent
• Conduct regular inspections of machinery and machinery spaces to maintain awareness of the condition and operational capability of all equipment at all times
• Arrange all transfers of fuel/lube oil//fresh water
• Ensure that all planned maintenance and both normal and emergency repair work is carried out
• In conjunction with the Maintenance Superintendent, ensure that all work is planned for minimum disruption to the vessel’s overall programme and maximum reliability and availability of the plant
• Ensure all measures to prevent pollution of the environment are exercised
• Keep all engine room records as required by the Company and other authorities and ensure that they are completed neatly and accurately
• To give/receive an appropriate and detailed handover when joining/leaving the Company vessel
• Being fully conversant with Company and Shipboard regulations and policies in order to carry out efficient and safe functions
• Be familiar with all safety equipment onboard and participate in safety drills and training to ensure the highest operation standard of the vessel at all times
• Carry out any other duties as may reasonably be requested by the Master
• Carry out duties of GP Rating and RIB Coxswain
Required Knowledge and Experience to make your mark in this role:
Essential
• ENG 1
• Sea Survival Course
• Basic Fire Fighting
Desirable
• For ATV AEC 1 & 2
• For RSC AEC 1
• Knowledge of the technical operation of the installations of designated equipment
• Basic knowledge of operational processes
• Good command of English (written and spoken)
• Knowledge of the applicable Occupational Health & Safety rules
• Basic skills in ICT Office and fleet management systems
• Formal Qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline
• Elementary First Aid
• RYA Powerboat Level 2
• Mandatory NINA training
Other Essential Requirements
• 3 years UK residency
• Full driving licence
• Current passport
• Must be available to work 3-week on, 2-week off, shift pattern
