Lutheran Social Service of MN - Early Learning Center Director

Location: St. Paul, Minnesota

Reporting to the Program Director, the Early Learning Center Director oversees the daily operations of the Center on the East Side of St. Paul, including:

1. Staffing
2. Scheduling
3. Implementation of the curriculum
4. Data collection

The position leads teaching staff and is responsible for achieving enrollment, accreditation, and operational objectives. In addition, the Director performs a variety of ongoing administrative functions for the Center, including maintaining children's program records and ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies. The position functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team to oversee a comprehensive early intervention strategy for highly stressed children and families.

Position Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in early childhood, social work, or related human services field.
2. Minimum of 4 years' experience working with young, highly stressed children; experience in child care, preschool, or other educational settings preferred.
3. Demonstrated ability to understand and work well with young children and families challenged by economic and personal problems and of varying ethnic backgrounds.
4. Positive attitude and creative thinking, with a passion for working with children.
5. Current Red Cross First Aid and CPR training (may be taken after hire).
6. NAEYC/NAC and state licensing knowledge preferred.
7. Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.
8. Demonstrated team building and leadership skills.
9. Ability to work independently on a variety of tasks with little direction.
10. Effective oral and written communicator.
11. Maintain valid Minnesota driver's license, good driving record and insurance coverage.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's of Education (preferred)
2. Bachelor's of Early Childhood Education (preferred)
