Position Summary

The team

The GPS Analytics and Cognitive (A&C) offering is responsible for developing advanced analytics products and applying data visualization and statistical programming tools to enterprise data in order to advance and enable the key mission outcomes for our clients. Our team supports all phases of analytic work product development, from the identification of key business questions through data collection and ETL, and from performing analyses and using a wide range of statistical, machine learning, and applied mathematical techniques to delivery insights to decision-makers. Our practitioners give special attention to the interplay between data and the business processes that produce it and the decision-makers that consume insights.

Work you’ll do

The data engineer will support the operations of all database and ETL (Extract-Transform-Load) platforms deployed in all of government client's environments (development, test, staging, production, COOP). This includes:

  1. Data Acquisition - Acquiring or connecting to operational systems; developing relationships with data originators and system owners to facilitate the exposure of data. Facilitating the technical extraction of data sources from source databases and Authoritative Data Sources.
  2. Data Preparation - Transforming data from its raw form into a format ready for consumption in both cloud and on-premises environments. Data Preparation tasks include, but are not limited to: data feed automation using industry standard tools, data tagging, metadata tagging, data export standards, data quality application and business rule creation, data munging and wrangling in support of machine learning tools and techniques, and performing advanced Extract-Transform-Load activities to maximize dataset exploitability.

These skills will be applied to a mission client team working to provide enterprise level data strategy and management to a federal government agency. This allows for nearly real time data to be provided to the members of this agency and promotes overall mission success, performance and improvement.

Required

  1. 3+ years of professional experience as a data engineer
  2. 3+ years of professional experience working in ETL
  3. 3+ years of professional experience working in data pipelining
  4. 3+ years of professional experience with data warehousing
  5. Willingness to work onsite in Boston fulltime.
  6. Active Secret clearance OR the ability to gain Secret clearance (US Citizens with clean/criminal financial backgrounds)
  7. The ability to work in the US at anytime without sponsorship needed from an employer

Preferred

  1. Bachelor's degree in a related study heavily preferred
  2. Consulting experience is a plus
  3. Prior government or DOD experience a plus
