Reports To: Chief Development Officer

Classification: Full Time/Salaried/Exempt

Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 annual salary

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY

The Director of Women’s Philanthropy for the Jewish Federation is primarily responsible for fundraising as well as developing relationships with donors and lay leaders to advance the organizational mission. This professional must deepen connections by cultivating and stewarding leadership, and implementing engagement opportunities.

The WP director must be a dynamic team player and experienced fundraiser with a proven track record of cultivating relationships, building a donor pipeline, and soliciting gifts, including Lions of Judah ($5,000+) and Lion of Judah Endowments. Through a strategic, donor-centric model, this position includes responsibility for increasing donor retention and acquisition via peer groups, including one-to-one conversations, small groups and large events.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  1. Work with the Women’s Philanthropy volunteers to identify, initiate, and develop solicitation efforts, enhance current initiatives, and implement fundraising activities.
  2. Strategically oversee the Women’s Philanthropy campaign activity and determine opportunities for enhancement.
  3. Personally cultivate, solicit and steward a significant portfolio of donors and prospects, securing gifts through face-to-face solicitations as part of an overall $2.65+ million annual campaign. WP raises 50%.
  4. Serve as Relationship Manager: cultivating and stewarding relationships with donors and prospects by conducting face-to-face and virtual meetings with donors and prospects in their portfolio.
  5. Integrate and initiate endowment conversations to create planned giving opportunities.
  6. Partner with colleagues on the Development team and across the organization to enhance the philanthropic engagement and leadership development of all donors, prospects and lay leaders.
  7. Develop and implement programming that further Federation’s philanthropic goals.
  8. Manage a portfolio of Women’s Philanthropy Ambassadors (lay solicitors) for campaign conversations.
  9. Utilize considerable initiative, independence, originality, and responsibility for developing new methods and techniques for fundraising.
  10. Identify grant opportunities, conduct grant research and complete grant applications and narratives, in collaboration and coordination with Chief Development Officer.
  11. Perform such other duties and special tasks as may be assigned.

This position will include occasional evenings and Sundays with possible travel for conferences.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Minimum of 2+ years of experience in annual fundraising, donor engagement, customer service, sales, or relationship/account management.
  2. Strong interpersonal skills that enable relationship and partnership building with key lay leaders, donors, and professionals at all levels.
  3. Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills; data-driven decision-maker who is comfortable with analytics and data management.
  4. Strong donor-relations skills: proven ability in cultivating prospects and creating donor engagement strategies that lead to greater philanthropic support.
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
