The Public Health Department (PHD) is accepting applications to fill one (1) full-time Environmental Health Services Director vacancy located in Santa Maria or Santa Barbara. The County classification title is Regulatory Compliance Manager III. This position is "At-Will" and exempt from Civil Service protections.
NOTE: The primary location for this position can be home-based in either Santa Maria or Santa Barbara. However, the incumbent will be expected to travel between both locations as needed.

THE POSITION :
Under general direction, the Environmental Health Services Director is responsible for leading a comprehensive Environmental Health Services enterprise unit in the Public Health Department accountable for highly regulated program areas such as environmental, health and safety compliance programs; overseeing projects related to environmental mitigation; and conducting regulatory enforcement countywide. The Environmental Health Services Director is also responsible to assess and anticipate community needs to ensure a healthy environment; respond promptly to protect public health during disasters; coordinate assigned activities with staff in other divisions; provide highly responsible and complex staff assistance and support to executive management; and consider health equity in environmental health program implementation.

Licenses and Certificates:
Applicants for the Environmental Health Services Director position shall hold a valid State of California Registered Environmental Health Specialist Certificate at the time of application.
Note on Out-of-State Licensure: Out-of-State licenses will not be accepted for this position.
Additionally, possession and maintenance of a valid California driver's license and the ability to meet automobile insurability requirements of the County are a condition of continued employment.
