Job Title: Academic Tutor Wage/Hour Status: Hourly
Reports to: Campus Principal Pay Plan/Grade: Academic Tutor Pay Rates
Dept. /School: HIgh School Terms of Employment: Part-Time (19 hours per week)
Primary Purpose
To provide academic tutoring support, as well as learning recovery and acceleration support to students in content areas.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED
Must have a minimum of 12 college hours
Special Knowledge/Skills
• Speak, read, and write fluent English
• Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate in English with district employees, parents, and students
Experience
Experience working with students (preferred)
Major Responsibilities And Duties
• Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material on skills initially introduced by the teacher.
• Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
• Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
• Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
• Alerts the appropriate personnel to any problem or pertinent information about an individual student.
• Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of a fully certified teacher.
• Upholds and adheres to the school districts safety rules and policies.
• Supports the goals and objectives of the school district and follows all district policies.
• Demonstrates the ability to attend work on a regular and routine basis to avoid disruption to district operations.
• Demonstrates a high level of independent, ethical, and professional conduct.
• Performs any other duties as assigned by the appropriate supervisor.
• Provides optimal customer service to all students, employees, parents, community members and any other stakeholders of the district.

Posture: Prolonged sitting and/or standing; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)

Pay Rates:Tutor- Less than 60 college hours $12.00 per hour
Tutor- 60+ college hours $20.00 per hour
Tutor- Degree(s) $25.00 per hour
Tutor- Certified Teacher (Texas) $28.00 per hour
