Assistant Practitioners provide high-level support to registered healthcare professionals, delivering advanced and complex care to patients. They work under the supervision and direction of registered practitioners, assisting with clinical and therapeutic activities, and contributing to the overall patient care plan.

*Key Responsibilities:*

1. *Clinical Duties:*

- Assist in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.

- Perform advanced clinical procedures as delegated by registered practitioners.

- Monitor and record patient conditions, including vital signs and symptoms.

2. *Patient Care:*

- Deliver direct patient care, including wound care, administering medications, and personal care tasks.

- Support patients with activities of daily living, ensuring comfort and dignity.

- Educate patients and families on health management and self-care practices.

3. *Therapeutic Support:*

- Assist in therapeutic activities, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy.

- Implement care plans and rehabilitation programs under the guidance of therapists.

- Help patients with mobility and exercise routines as prescribed.

4. *Diagnostic Support:*

- Assist in the preparation and execution of diagnostic tests and procedures.

- Support radiographers, laboratory technicians, and other diagnostic staff.

- Ensure the proper use and maintenance of diagnostic equipment.

5. *Communication and Documentation:*

- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records.

- Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, patients, and their families.

- Report any changes in patient conditions to the supervising registered practitioner promptly.

6. *Professional Development:*

- Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities.

- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of clinical practices and healthcare regulations.

- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the department.

*Qualifications:*

- Completion of a foundation degree or equivalent in a relevant healthcare discipline.

- Certification as an Assistant Practitioner (where applicable).

- Previous experience in a healthcare setting.

- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

- Strong clinical skills and the ability to perform advanced procedures.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

- Good organizational and time-management skills.

- Compassionate and patient-focused approach.

*Working Conditions:*

- This role involves direct patient care and may require physical activity, including lifting and moving patients.

- Exposure to various clinical environments, including hospitals, clinics, and community settings.

- Shifts may include nights, weekends, and holidays to ensure comprehensive patient care.

*Additional Information:*

- Assistant Practitioners must adhere to strict infection control and health and safety guidelines.

- Training and supervision will be provided for specific clinical procedures and tasks.
