Accommodation Warden
Key Responsibilities:
1. *Resident Support and Welfare*:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for residents, addressing their concerns and providing guidance.
- Offer pastoral care and support to residents, including providing information on available resources and services.
- Foster a positive and inclusive community environment within the residence.
2. *Safety and Security*:
- Ensure the safety and security of residents by monitoring access to the facility and enforcing security protocols.
- Conduct regular inspections of the premises to identify and address safety hazards.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, including medical emergencies, fire alarms, and security incidents.
3. *Administrative Duties*:
- Manage resident records, including contact information, room assignments, and tenancy agreements.
- Coordinate the check-in and check-out processes for residents.
- Handle administrative tasks such as maintenance requests, incident reports, and inventory management.
4. *Rule Enforcement and Conflict Resolution*:
- Enforce residence rules and regulations to maintain order and discipline.
- Address and resolve conflicts between residents, using mediation and conflict resolution skills.
- Handle disciplinary issues and apply appropriate sanctions when necessary.
5. *Community Building and Engagement*:
- Organize and facilitate social, recreational, and educational activities to promote community engagement.
- Encourage resident participation in community events and initiatives.
- Provide leadership and support to resident committees and groups.
6. *Maintenance and Facility Management*:
- Coordinate with maintenance staff to ensure the upkeep and cleanliness of the residence.
- Report and follow up on maintenance issues and repairs.
- Oversee the allocation and condition of rooms and common areas.
Skills and Qualifications:
- *Education*: High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in hospitality management, social work, or a related field is advantageous.
- *Certifications*: First Aid and CPR certification may be required; additional training in conflict resolution or counseling is beneficial.
- *Experience*: Previous experience in a residential support, housing management, or customer service role is preferred.
- *Skills*:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle emergencies and stressful situations calmly.
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to build rapport with residents.
Work Environment:
- *Settings*: Accommodation wardens typically work in student dormitories, hostels, employee housing, or similar residential facilities.
- *Physical Demands*: The role may involve walking and inspecting the premises, handling emergencies, and performing administrative tasks.
- *Hours*: Accommodation wardens often work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to ensure resident support is available at all times.
Career Progression:
- With experience and additional training, accommodation wardens can advance to roles such as senior warden, housing manager, or other administrative positions within residential services or property management.
£17 per hour
