Brief Description

Join our team of competent and compassionate professionals as a Domestic Violence Services Intern in the Proteus program at Behavioral Health Network!

This internship opportunity in the Proteus program will support your learning in the following:
• Participating in IPAEP groups, including guided co-facilitation and course preparation.
• Collecting and logging data to measure participant success in the group, compiling reports to send to official referral sources.
• Learning about the dynamics of Domestic Violence, prevention, and social reeducation.
• Using of BHN technology and ability to access WIFI and systems to perform duties while offsite.

This internship would run for a flexible number of hours based on college program needs total) and would be unpaid, as it is for college credit.

Who are we?

Proteus is an Intimate Partner Abuse Education Program (IPAEP) that seeks to teach people how to create safe and respectful intimate partner relationships, free from violence, abuse, or control. The program is a group-based 40-week effort where referrals are court-mandated, DCF-mandated, or self-referred. Groups are based in Springfield, Northampton, Greenfield, Athol, and Ware, with some meeting virtually. Groups focus on education, breaking down dynamics of Domestic Violence, Power and Control, and Abusive Values, among other topics. Facilitators of the groups are educators, not clinicians, therapists, or counselors. Ideal candidates will have an interest in Domestic Violence, Social Justice, Criminal Justice, Social Work, and/or helping others, and they will be ready to jump into a busy program!

• Enrolled in an Associate’s, Bachelor’s and/or Master’s program with a related degree (required).
• Reliable transportation to attend groups in Springfield, Ware, and/or Athol, MA (required).
