Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties related to the production of cattle.
Duties related to the production of livestock will include the following:
check physical characteristics, observe general condition of livestock, and apply the appropriate care; observe animals to detect illness/injury/disease, rate of weight gain or to determine offspring delivery time; assist in delivery; apply or administer medications, vaccines and/or insecticides; mix feed/additives and feed/water livestock; place mineral blocks; drive equipment to haul/distribute feed/water; herd livestock; confine livestock in stalls; dock, castrate, brand, clip/tag and clamp livestock; clean/disinfect livestock stalls/corrals/sheds; maintain growth, feeding, production and cost records on animals; hoist/stack bales of hay onto wagon/truck; work cattle from horseback; ride and handle horses in a manner assuring the safety of the worker, co-workers, and livestock; ride horses to move livestock; rope calves; shoe horse; push livestock into chutes and alley ways; transfer livestock between enclosures to facilitate breeding, birthing, or shipping; care for livestock in terrain dealing with predators and poisonous snakes; load/pile manure or stubble; inspect, maintain, and repair watering equipment/facility, pens, and fences; haul livestock.
