Job Summary:

The Hardware Design Authority will report to the Senior Manager of Engineering and oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from conceptual design and prototyping to production and support. This role involves taking technical ownership of projects to ensure high-quality, repeatable designs that meet requirements.

Responsibilities:
• Support proposals by preparing estimates, schedules, compliance matrixes, and costing.
• Create and manage hardware development and verification plans based on customer requirements.
• Specify and develop hardware and verification environments, tools, and processes.
• Develop and implement DO-254 processes and review checklists.
• Design hardware architecture and perform electronics, FPGA, and mechanical engineering design.
• Design electronic circuits and systems to meet EMC/EMI requirements.
• Prepare cost estimates, reports, and design descriptions for electronic systems.
• Analyze circuits and ensure traceability from requirements to implementation.
• Support installation, testing, and operation of electronic components and systems.
• Debug and troubleshoot hardware circuits.
• Conduct FMEA at board and component levels.
• Integrate hardware into embedded systems, including test benches and customer sites.
• Lead product development teams and produce work packages.
• Supervise junior designers and provide presentations to customers.
• Participate in program risk assessment and mitigation.

Qualifications:
• Minimum 10 years of experience in electronic product design and reliability analysis.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with VHDL, DO-254, DOORS, Orcad, Matlab, and PSPICE is preferred.
• Background in Control Systems, Avionics, Aerospace, or high-reliability products is a plus.
• Leadership and management experience.
• Familiarity with RTCA, Inc. certification standards and structured design environments.
• Professional Engineering registration (P. Eng) in Ontario or the ability to obtain it within a year.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including advanced features of Word, Project, Access, and Excel.
