SUMMARY

Part of the IDEX Corporation, Precision Polymer Engineering, is a manufacturer and supplier of high performance, niche elastomer seals used in critical applications around the globe. PUROSE:

The Materials Process Engineer (MPE) is a part of the global operations team at PPE and provides support to the PPE manufacturing site in Brenham TX. The MPE will support/lead material science projects through different stages toward successful industrialization of new materials, products, and technologies or will optimize our existing materials, products, and technologies. They will contribute to maximizing product profitability through continuous process optimization, critical review of existing assets and processes to ensure full utilization of state-of-the-art process & equipment and will drive equipment standardization across sites. The MPE will coordinate & support problem solving activities with the core materials team to resolve manufacturing issues and may be involved in the implementation of enhanced safety standards. The MPE will be required to be onsite, at this time remote or hybrid working is not an option.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Review existing assets and processes and define improvement plans
• Optimize costs by continuous process improvements
• Develop / implement novel processing technologies
• Collaborate with Materials, Advanced technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Production and external suppliers to spec in new equipment when needed
• Support Implement and Sustain stages of Materials projects
• Support Core R&D and the lab on Explore and Develop for non-standard processing evaluations
• Lead / support / document manufacturing process changes when appropriate
• Resolve manufacturing issues when related to materials / equipment / procedures aspects
• Carry out work in accordance with company safety policies and notify management of any unsafe practices or environmental hazards

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
• 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably in a polymer / elastomer manufacturing site
• Knowledge of polymers (preferably elastomers) processing technologies
• Demonstrated project management skills
• Process Design using standardized process methodology
• Lean Production Cell Design, capacity, takt time. Development of Work Standards
• Experience in the Design of Continuous Processing Systems i.e. materials, chemicals, etc. (not just discrete parts)
• Knowledge of Statistical & Analytical Methods for Process Design and Control (optimization, DoE & Taguchi Methods, Process Capability, SPC)
• Advanced Quality Planning Methodology (APQP, FMEA, Control Planning, Quality Process Sheets and WI, PPAP or equivalent)
• Ability to work in and influence cross-functional teams in a matrix organization
• Promoting collaboration among several different functions and different locations
• Ability to constantly challenge the status quo
