We are looking for someone to join Team Yuma as a Technical Production Supervisor, working with the Department of Parks and Recreation. The ideal candidate will effectively promote and plan events for the P&R Division of Arts and Culture programs, supervise staff and maintain technical operations.

Under general supervision, plans, coordinates, and supervises a variety of technical and operational production activities for the Yuma Art Center, and related facilities, assets and infrastructure.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Manages, operates, maintains, and safeguards the technical operations of the Yuma Art Center including maintenance, and set up of a variety of lighting, sounds, projection, communications and performance recording equipment and verifies that public facilities meet state and Federal safety regulations and City quality standards.
• Meets with clients to assist with technical planning of facility setup and resource utilization; assists in event planning, rental agreements, ticketing, and explains City policies and procedures; identifies available resources for rental, and reviews equipment and services to be provided by the Yuma Art Center.
• Manages bar and concessions, maintains inventory and orders specialized supplies, and serves as a house shift manager for special events and theater productions.
• Monitors program operations, identifies problems and solutions, and analyzes operational information and trends; creates summary reports, and recommendations for improvements and new programs.
• Manages operational and administrative issues; coordinates with other City departments to assure customers are in compliance with technical requirements for facility events.
• Supervises staff, and assigns priorities and projects; mentors, coaches and evaluates performance; assures that goals are defined and achieved; develops staff skills and training plans; meets regularly with staff to discuss and resolve priorities, workload, resource allocation, budgets, and technical issues.
• Designs, installs, operates, and maintains lighting, sound, projection, and other technical equipment for clients; assists community groups with planning and execution of local theater productions and events.
• Purchases technical equipment and materials, and supplies required for the concession operations.
• Promotes the P&R Division of Arts and Culture programs, and encourages participation in City programs and events; answers questions on the use of facilities, and coordinates work with historic and cultural organizations, community groups, business and service clubs, and regional government associations.
• Exercises independent judgment within broad policy guidelines; evaluates and analyzes issues, and recommends and implements solutions; provides leadership, direction and guidance in strategies, planning, asset development, priorities, and customer service issues.
• Supports the relationship between the City and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and City staff; promotes the City goals and priorities, vision, values and the “Yuma Way”, and complies with all City policies and procedures.
• Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training and Experience Guidelines
Bachelor's Degree in Theater, Fine Arts, Engineering, Computer Science, Business or Public Administration, or related field; AND two years of theater and arts program experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge of:
• City policies and procedures.
• State and Federal laws governing public facilities, including OSHA requirements.
• Methods and practices of theater set production.
• Techniques and equipment used in set construction, and lighting and sound design.
• Techniques for presentation, selection, and evaluation of arts and cultural programs.
• Techniques and practices for efficient and cost effective management of resources.
• Box office operation practices and procedures.

Skill in:
• Directing and coordinating arts and culture programs and operations.
• Designing and constructing sets, lighting and sound for theater productions.
• Installing, operating and troubleshooting sophisticated electronic theater systems and equipment.
• Analyzing problems, resolving disputes and grievances, and developing effective solutions.
• Supervising staff, delegating tasks and authority, and coaching to improve staff performance.
• Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.
• Using initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines.
• Operating a personal computer utilizing standard and specialized software.
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clients.
• Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
A valid Arizona State Driver's License is required. Technical training and certifications may be required. Food Handler's permit / County Health Department Certificate and Arizona Liquor Law title 4 training may be required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a standard office environment and public facilities. May occasionally be required to bend, reach, stoop, and lift objects.
