About the Role:
Under direct supervision of GISD Student and Campus Services, and in collaboration with Georgetown Police Department School Resource Officers (SROs), provide security protection for students, campus personnel, patrons, and district property. Remains alert to emergency situations and provides first‐line response.
Qualification Guidelines:
Education/Certification/Experience:
• High School diploma or GED.
• Clear and valid Texas driver’s license.
• Must hold a current Texas concealed handgun license (LTC).
• Former military or law enforcement background required.
• Must be a successful psychological screener.
• Must not have a history of criminal activity.
• AED/CPR certified preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Possess skills and interest in working within an educational environment
• Ability to clearly and accurately write and record information in English
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English
• Ability to work professionally and effectively with others
• Ability to pass required physical, psychiatric, and drug tests
• Ability to complete 80 hours of TCOLE training
• Ability to pass a pistol qualification course annually with a 90%+ score and attend regularly scheduled firearms training
• Ability to restrain and/or detain individuals in an emergency situation
• Ability to implement stop and bleed training in an emergency situation
Mental/Physical/Environmental Demands:
• Equipment; two‐way radio, and other security equipment, fire extinguisher, and standard office equipment including computer and peripherals
• Prolonged sitting, standing and walking; ability to walk 8‐10 miles per day
• Moderate lifting and carrying (15‐44 pounds)
• Work inside and outside (moderate exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); moderate exposure to noise
• Work environment involves exposures to hazards of physical risks, which require following safety precautions
• May be subject to adverse and hazardous working conditions; including violent confrontations with armed individuals
• Maintain emotional control under stress; ability to control sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others, and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously
• Work with frequent interruptions
