This is a paid position which may include evening, weekend and holiday work. There is no guarantee number of work hours per week. There are no employee benefits available for this temporary position. Proof of current college enrollment will be required.

The Orange County Animal Services Department is seeking a Student Intern to assist in the daily operations of the Animal Shelter located on Conroy Road Orlando, Florida.

The Animal Services staff is a passion driven group of people that makes a difference in the lives of animals every day. The shelter receives approximately 13,500 pets annually and has several services and programs in place to help not only the pets coming into the shelter, but those in the community as well. No two days are the same here at the shelter, but you can leave each day knowing you made an impact for the better.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college program

Proof of enrollment will be required if you are selected for an internship
• *Once you have graduated, you can no longer be considered for a student internship with Orange County.**

Representative Duties/Assignments
• Training of new volunteers on shelter policies, procedures, and safe animal handling
• Assisting the public with pet interactions and providing excellent customer service
• Greeting customers in the adoption areas and informing of adoption process
• Supervising volunteers to ensure they are following safe animal handling procedures.
• Cleaning, organizing, and restocking the volunteer room with supplies.
• Keep interaction areas/ play yards clean, refill disinfectant sprayer.

Salary Information

$15.61/hour

Educational Requirements

If you have obtained education from a country other than the United States, your degree or diploma must be evaluated to determine the United States equivalency by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Service (NACES) or the Association of International Credentials Evaluations (AICE) at your expense.
