Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. The Director of Philanthropy is responsible for directing and managing the day-to-day development functions of the College. This position manages a portfolio of mid-level and leadership donors, directs the annual fund, assists with writing corporate and foundation grant proposals, manages donor communications, and oversees alumni outreach. Additionally, the Director of Philanthropy will play an integral part in the planning and execution of the college’s future capital campaign initiatives.
The Director of Philanthropy manages the Manager of Advancement Services and the Foundation’s Administrative Assistant, reports to the Vice President of Institutional Advancement, and serves in their absence as the unit’s manager.
Must complete a Statement of Economic Interest.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Demonstrated skill in fostering relationships with individual, corporate, foundation, and community organization donors and prospects.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise professional and office support staff and direct day-to-day work activities.
• Demonstrated skill in budget development and management.
• Demonstrated skill in volunteer management.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups of people and handle multiple tasks with a high degree of professionalism.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, with a variety of constituencies including community partners, students, faculty, administrators, and staff.
• Proficiency in using current fundraising software programs, including donor and prospect databases.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Considerable experience in professional fundraising.
• Experience in higher education.
• Coursework in a related field
