Role Summary

The Unit Manager will be fully responsible for all Food & Cleaning service operations ensuring operational excellence and that all aspects are adhered to at all times. You get to inspire and develop your team, making sure they provide outstanding customer experiences. You will need to ensure your operations are fully compliant with Compass process, health and safety and food hygiene regulations and run commercially in line with net growth and retention targets. You will be expected to build strategic client relationships to ensure retention of contracts is maintained.

The great things you will be expected to do

Day to Day Role Duties
• Engage with the Operations manager & Client regularly, keeping them up to date with any on site changes or action plans
• Empower and support the team or colleagues and suppliers to deliver a great service
• Lead and inspire your team through training, coaching, development and feedback
• Design, manage and own the overall experience, not just the offerings
• Set an expectation of hospitality that is friendly and engaging
• Have a passion for quality food preparation and taste
• Create, manage and implement new projects and ideas
• Ensure team reviews, coaching sessions, and disciplinary actions are delivered in a professional and timely manner
• Monitor and manage all financial responsibilities such as forecasting and budgeting
• Ensure budgets are understood and adhered to
• Ensure all sector and Compass employee guidelines are implemented and adhered to
• Identify and develop both internal and external talent to ensure clear and succinct succession planning
• Promote a culture of Food and Workplace Safety
• Communicate with our client honestly, accurately and in a timely manner
• Meet all timelines for quarter and year-end reports given by our partner and Sector Employer
• Work with others to ensure that client and consumer expectations are understood and exceeded
• Champion daily team briefings that are user-focused
• Minimise agency and overtime spend and when necessary, ensuring that agency staff are trained to Compass Ireland standards

• Work with others to ensure that client and consumer expectations are understood and exceeded
• Promote Compass Ireland hospitality to our Client engaging with them through our food choices, displays, space designs while acting as a Compass Advocate at all times
• Be polite, professional and friendly at all times with customers, clients and colleagues

• Be prepared to assist colleagues in a willing and positive manner including assisting with other duties as required

Health & Safety
• Observe and comply with all company and unit procedures relating to safety and security, reporting any issues to your line manager
• Take responsibility for your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by what you do or what you fail to do
• Correctly use work equipment, personal protective equipment in accordance with training and instructions provided, reporting any equipment issues to your line manager

Key skills required
• Bachelor's degree is preferred, or equivalent professional experience
• Food/Cleaning service/unit supervision experience
• English - Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Working knowledge of Microsoft suite
• Strong passion for great food and hospitality
• General culinary knowledge of basic kitchen practices, protocols and procedures
• Demonstrates good judgement and decision making skills
• Commercially focused with ability to measure impact and results
• Ability to create effective relationships, influence and collaborate internally and externally at all organisational levels
• Demonstrates Compass values and recognition principles
• Understands and has knowledge of industry trends and direction; ability to learn and effectively utilise the Client’s tools
• Strong communicator that can confidently speak with all levels within the business, where necessary utilising negotiation and reasoning skills
