Why You?

We are looking for a dynamic and collaborative individual to join our Building Department! Directly in line with the Town of Innisfil’s Strategic Plan 2030, you will take a “Community First” approach to reviewing building permit applications, plans review, site inspections, and investigation of complaints – primarily in relation to lot grading and on-site sewage systems, and will also be responsible for:
• Performing the statutory requirements of an inspector as required by the Building Code Act, the Building Code, and as directed by the Chief Building Official (CBO) or Deputy Chief Building Official (DCBO)
• Enforcing of the Ontario Building Code (OBC), the Town’s Building, Septic and Site Alteration by-laws, town engineering standards, site alteration permits, and assisting with property standards/bylaw issues and site plan approval requirements
• Acting as a technical resource to Town processes including contributing to Site Plan Approvals, site alteration permits, Committee of Adjustment and Community Planning Permit System Applications
• Providing comments through the review of building permit applications with particularly focused attention to lot grading design and on-site septic design related matters
• Acting as an appointed septic inspector to undertake reviews and inspections for both new, replacements, repairs, and septic maintenance inspections
• Identifying and maintaining the Town Inventory (master lists) of properties and treatment units within the Town and ensure annual maintenance is being undertaken as required by the Ontario Building Code

The preferred candidate holds:
• College diploma in a discipline such as architectural technology, building science, civil engineering technology, land surveying or an equivalent combination of education and experience; such experience or accreditation might include a construction trade.
• Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience performing inspections and reviews of lot grading and septic systems.
• Membership in good standing with the Ontario Building Officials Association and be certified as a Certified Building Code Official (CBCO).
• Must have mandatory qualification requirements in the following categories as prescribed in the Ontario Building Code Act: General Legal and On-site sewage systems
• Registered as Building Official, or capable of being registered with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH).
• A valid Class “G” driver’s license.

Closing date is July 18, 2024.

The salary range for this position is $81,411 - $96,886 per annum (Based on a 40-hour week) and the successful candidate will be compensated within this range.
