Purpose And Scope:

The Outpatient RN, a registered nurse, is responsible for providing and coordinating clinically competent care to an assigned group of patients as part of the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP). They evaluate and plan patient care, delegate tasks to direct patient care staff, and work as part of the ESKD healthcare team to participate in decision-making, teaching, leadership... functions, and quality improvement activities. These initiatives are all aimed at improving patient care outcomes and the overall facility operations.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities:

Conducting oneself in accordance with Fresenius Kidney Cares policies, procedures, and state and federal regulations is critical for the satisfactory completion of all job tasks and responsibilities.
• Completes all relevant duties according to the instruction of the Supervisor with the guidance of the Clinical Educator, Preceptor, or in collaboration with other Registered Nurses.
• The assigned healthcare professional collects and analyzes patient data throughout hemodialysis treatment to monitor the patient's overall health status. Documentation of all patient data is done in the patient's health record, and treatment plans are adjusted when necessary. The physician or other relevant medical personnel are notified about any changes in the patient's treatment plan.
• Appraises, cooperates with, and documents the fundamental learning requirements of patients and their families, with an objective to provide effective education service initially and further.
• Coordinates the daily provision of hemodialysis therapy to designated patients in collaboration with direct and indirect caregivers, guaranteeing the secure and effective delivery of treatment.
• Administers medicines exactly as prescribed or in accordance with approved algorithms and documents appropriate medical justification and effectiveness.
• Assists in coordinating emergency response activities.
• Functions as a vital asset for the healthcare team, takes part in staff orientation and assists in the training process for new members as assigned.
• Verifies that precise laboratory collection, processing, and shipping practices are implemented and arranges for the rescheduling of missed or insufficient laboratory collections.
• A coordinated effort among the Interdisciplinary Team aids in the identification of expected outcomes and documentation of updated nursing assessments and plans of care for assigned patients.
• Keeps patients up to date on information regarding the available transplant and treatment options.
• Advancement is contingent on satisfying the CAP requirements mandated by your educational institution or employer.
• Executes any additional tasks as delegated by the Supervisor.

Physical Demands And Working Conditions:

Taking charge of Patient Care Technicians/LPNs/LVNs/RNs as a Team Leader or designated Nurse in Charge, after fulfilling all the requirements, is now possible:
• New employees are required to fulfill all education and training requirements set by FKC to ensure a successful start in their career with the company.
• A requirement for RN applicants is that they demonstrate a minimum of 9 months of experience.
• A crucial prerequisite for a registered nurse interested in the position is having worked in chronic and acute hemodialysis for at least three months.

Education and Licensure:
• Someone who accomplished a nursing curriculum approved by an accredited organization.
• The current requirement for state approval for performing the job.
• Healthcare providers who possess a certification in BLS CPR are better equipped to save lives during emergencies.
• Conforming to the practice needs of the state of one's employment is a must.

Experience And Required Skills:
• If you have less than one year of recent nephrology nursing experience, you may be interested in an entry-level role.
• The ideal candidate for this position would have a minimum of 9 months of Registered Nurse experience.
• Candidates with a background in both chronic and acute hemodialysis will be highly considered.
