US Foods is hiring for Transport Mechanic

As the Transport Mechanic at US Foods, your role will be to maintain and repair our fleet of trucks and trailers to guarantee that they are secure and productive. You will assess mechanical problems, conduct maintenance work and make the necessary repairs in a timely manner. Your expertise will help ensure the prompt delivery of customer orders...

Key Responsibilities:
• Offer upkeep and repair tasks for diesel trucks and trailers, such as engine maintenance, transmission mending, brake tweaking, electrical system restoration and refrigeration unit serviceability.
• Detect and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues by using state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and tools.
• Conduct periodic vehicle inspections to detect and sort out possible problems that could lead to unexpected malfunctions.
• The accurate completion of all paperwork, including work orders, repair logs and parts usage sheets, is an essential aspect of the job and should be done in a timely manner.
• Keep your work area immaculate and well-organized, ensuring that all machinery and instruments are in good condition.
• Stay committed to providing a safe working environment for all by complying with all relevant safety procedures and practices.
• Timely completion of repairs is only possible through cooperative efforts among mechanics and fleet management.
• As a diesel technician, staying updated on industry advancements is key to improving your skills and staying competitive. Attend training sessions, read industry publications, and network with other professionals in your field.

• While possessing a high school diploma or equivalent is essential, preference will be given to candidates who have received vocational or technical training in diesel mechanics.
• The ideal candidate for this position will have a minimum of two years’ experience as a diesel mechanic, with a preference for those who have worked in fleet maintenance.
• ASE certification in diesel mechanics is highly regarded within the industry.
• A fundamental skill set required in the field is the ability to diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, electrical systems, brakes, and refrigeration units.
• Full understanding of the DOT regulations regarding the maintenance of fleets for commercial use.
• Ability to heft and transport sizeable parts and equipment.
• This person has a talent for adeptly resolving difficult problems and an inclination towards precision.
• Successful teamwork often hinges on having strong communication abilities and being able to work harmoniously with others.

Preferred Skills:
• CMMS has allowed me to create detailed reports on maintenance activities and costs.
• To manage a fleet effectively, one must be acquainted with fleet management software and diagnostic tools.
