Role description:

As part of a growing and agile business, our Environmental Planning team is looking for a Senior Consultant to join our stakeholder engagement team. You will be people focused and passionate about delivering improved quality of life to communities and stakeholders. You will have a background in the built environment and be instrumental in helping to create flourishing and sustainable communities and places through a diverse range of projects including energy and infrastructure projects, large-scale mixed-use development schemes for both private and public clients... public realm and master planning projects.

With your specialism in environmental management, or your technical or sustainability expertise, your work could involve protected species, pollution, surface water and materials management, air quality or noise. And in some of the world’s busiest and most beautiful locations.

Role accountabilities:

You will work collaboratively on a broad range of projects, helping to understand stakeholder aspirations, manage stakeholder relationships, promoting inclusivity and ensuring ownership as a way of bringing about change.

We drive technical excellence in everything we do and promote a flexible and collaborative environment supported by digital innovation. You will be responsible for the following:
• Support the development and execution of stakeholder engagement plans to ensure that all relevant stakeholders are identified, informed, and involved in project development and delivery.
• Undertake stakeholder mapping and analysis to understand interests, concerns, and influence on projects and initiatives.
• Coordinate stakeholder activities, including organising meetings, workshops, and events to gather input, share information, and build relationships.
• Work with our wider graphics team to create engaging and informative content for community and stakeholder engagement events across different communication channels.
• Assist in monitoring and responding to stakeholder feedback, inquiries, and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
• Contribute to the development of materials such as presentations, leaflets, and other material as appropriate on a project by project basis to help inform stakeholder engagement activities.
• Support the maintenance of stakeholder databases and records to ensure accurate and up-to-date information is accessible to relevant team members.
• Work closely with project Stakeholder Leads to prepare reporting and supporting documents, including Statements of Community Involvement, Statements of Common Ground, Consultation Reports.

Qualifications & Experience:
• Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams on a variety of projects and programmes.
• Knowledge / understanding of the UK planning system and consenting processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
• Solid organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively under deadlines.
• Confident working alone or as part of a team, with ability to adapt as required.
• An understanding of stakeholder engagement principles and best practices.
• A passion for sustainability, community development, and corporate social responsibility is highly valued.
• Attention to detail in service delivery, communications, and ways of working with others.
• Relevant degree or equivalent qualification, preferably with chartered status or working towards.
