The Opportunity

Group / team description:
• Information technology is responsible for everything information systems–related. That includes:
• technical support: IT helpdesks, asset... management (including laptops and mobile devices) and technical training
• infrastructure: networks and systems, servers (real and virtualised), disaster recovery, business continuity and IT security
• development: designing and acquiring business applications.
• While the roles within the division may vary, all involve providing the very best services and systems.

• Efficient and effective IT systems are essential to the effective operation of a global law firm like Herbert Smith Freehills. The information technology team keeps our global team of lawyers and the supporting business services staff connected whether we're in the office or on the move.

Role / Primary Responsibilities:
• To scope, plan, manage and deliver projects, which deliver successful IT solutions to business problems and needs, to the quality required, on time and within budget.
• Task co-ordination of resources across technical work-streams to ensure that solutions are delivered on-time, to quality and within budget.
• Appropriate reporting to stakeholders and relevant parties to provide regular visibility of project progress.
• Build relationships with senior business stakeholders and contribute to the creation of roadmaps that identify business drivers that may result in IT delivery requirements.
• The development of effective working relationships with colleagues across IT and the business to gain commitment, support and resource to deliver technical streams of work
• To ensure delivery complies with the appropriate governance and architectural principles
• Creation and tracking of Initiatives, Epics and Stories to break down projects into value based deliverables.
• Use Scrum and Kanban methodologies to deliver projects

Qualifications, Skills and experience:
• Proven experience in Agile delivery
• Experience in technology delivery management
• Practical involvement in all stages of technical delivery, from feasibility through to support
• Understanding of standard reporting mechanisms, particularly in Scrum/Kanban and how they are used to track progress, e.g. cumulative flow, burn down/burn up charts, velocity and cycle time
• Knowledge and experience of tools and techniques in the following areas is important:
• Workshop Facilitation (e.g. for Story Elicitation, Release Planning, Stand-ups, Sprint Retrospective)
• Structured Problem Solving
• Coaching & Mentoring technical resources
