We are looking for a driven and ambitious Purchasing person to join our purchasing team. This role will work across two thriving family businesses providing full purchasing support.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

What will you be doing in Purchasing?
• Data analysis – Look through sales data to... work out demand based on historical usage and spot trends in material usage
• Place orders on suppliers
• Expedite orders, providing updates to sales team on any delayed orders
• Booking shipment collections from suppliers
• Managing container imports deliveries through the whole process; keeping ETA’s updated in the system, providing forwarder with shipping schedules on a monthly basis, providing delivery schedules for the UK and German warehouses, creating container checklists for the warehouses, pulling pre-allocation reports prior to shipment arrival for the order processing team
• Working closely with accounts to arrange payments to all far east suppliers and approving invoices on a weekly basis, provide German import information monthly to the accountants in Germany
• Weekly reporting: stock figures, stock paid for not received
• Setting up cycle counts for warehouse checks & arrange end of year stock takes
• Supplier relationship management
• Working with the technical team to ensure product quality is to agreed specifications
• Negotiating price reductions with suppliers & freight forwarders
• System Management – Setting up new codes, updating supplier lead times & prices
• Provide training and support to team members, escalating issues where needed

What we are looking for in our Purchasing Member:
• Sage or some other MRP system experience
• Excel knowledge
• Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced reactive environment
• Proven experience in purchasing strategies, plans and campaigns for a minimum of 2 years.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to prioritise and manage workload effectively.
• IT literate and willing to learn new technologies.
• Team worker and flexible.
• Ability to work under pressure in a lively office environment.
• Also recently installed Netstock Inventory Management - training can be provided on this system
