GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

Essential Functions

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Collaborate with team members to plan, produce, and direct media content, including the creation, editing and publishing of videos, photos, graphics, newsletters, Press Statements, print and social media content for the Office of the Mayor and his initiatives.
• Coordinate with external video production partners as needed.
• Capture video and still photography of Mayor appearances and City events.
• Coordinate City and outside organization media coverage of Mayoral projects and activities, including scripting, logistical coordination, and interviewing.
• Assist with design and layout of print and digital collateral materials.
• Maintain and update camera and video equipment, staying current with editing software technology.
• Coordinate communications and convey information among department/division personnel.
• Attend Communications staff meetings to share progress, budgets, and other activities of Mayor’s office.
• Coordinate with Communications and other City Staff to organize Mayor’s appearance and remarks at City events such as ground-breaking ceremonies, dedication ceremonies, or other activities.
• Work to independently resolve problems and initiate appropriate action/response.
• Monitors status of projects/workflow and troubleshoot problem situations.
• Label and index recordings of Mayor’s public meetings and appearances.
• Drives, accompanies and/or represents the Office of the Mayor for high-level meetings and public events.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING
• Associate or technical degree in Film, Television/Video Production, or related field.
• Minimum five (5) years of related experience
• Possess and maintain a valid GA State Driver’s License.

Minimum Qualifications And Standards Required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Proficiency in Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro or comparable editing software as evidenced by a submission of 2-5 min reel of the applicant’s completed work, submitted with application.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator.

Additional Preferred Experience
• Proficiency in ProTools, Logic Pro or comparable sound editing software
• Cinematographic and/or directing of commercials, shorts or feature-length films
• License and one or more years’ experience as a drone operator and videographer
• Copywriting and/or editing of Press Statements, websites, newsletters and/or periodicals
• Experience teaching or coaching young people ages 16-25

Work Hours

Must be willing to work holidays, nights and up to 3 weekends per month with as little as 24 hours’ notice.

Physical Requirements

This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as light physical effort in sedentary to light work, which may involve lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods at a keyboard or workstation. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
