We invite you to build your Water career at HDR. Our global team is looking for success-oriented Hydraulic Structures EITs to work in a number of locations on a wide variety of projects in the Dams, Levees, and Civil Works world.

The primary duties of the role are to:
• Perform analysis and design of both new and existing hydraulic structures including dams, spillways, gates, outlet works, diversion structures, retaining walls, cofferdams, floodwalls, water conveyance structures, and foundations.
• Perform calculations, sketches, and diagrams to support analysis and designs, under the supervision of a Senior Engineer.
• Perform preliminary and detailed civil/structural analysis and design for primarily concrete and steel structures.
• Support multi-disciplinary teams on civil and structural engineering projects.
• Create engineering drawings in collaboration with CADD Technicians
• Conduct basic interpretations of drawings, standards, codes, and other published materials.
• Assist in the writing of technical reports including design criteria and design reports.
• Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and writing of technical specifications.
• Assist in the inspection of various hydraulic structures (travel will be required)
• Review Contractor’s shop drawings and submittals regarding structural engineering work and responding to Contractor’s Requests for Information (RFIs)
• Work independently on small projects or assist more Senior Engineers on larger projects

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural engineering from an ABET accredited program.
• Strong academic background and attention to detail.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Interest in working on projects varying in both size and complexity. This includes performing inspections, design/analysis calculations, report writing and finite element modeling tasks.
• Knowledge of relevant structural design methods, codes, and standards.
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite, Mathcad, or similar software.
• Ability to prepare complete, concise, and organized engineering calculations.
• Ability to take direction, follow processes and accept feedback and suggestions from Senior Engineers and Designers
• Willingness to travel and assist with hydraulic structures inspections. Potential for becoming rope access trained, confined space entry, OSHA, or other safety training for inspections. Travel is expected to not exceed more than 20% of time.
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture.

Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Passed the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam
• Registered Engineer-in-Training (EIT)
• Programming experience with Python, MATLAB, or similar
• Knowledge and interest in finite element modeling software such as SAP2000 and LS-DYNA
• Previous structural engineering work experience (internship or full-time work experience)

The expected compensation range depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. The ranges for these locations are: (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. California will be $59,521 - $96,625 annually/hourly depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.

Colorado will be $59,521 - $85,030 annually/hourly depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
