Gordon Murray Automotive currently have an exciting opportunity for a Serviceability Engineer to join our Design, Development and Engineering Centre based in Surrey.

You will be responsible for assessing and developing the design proposals of vehicle programmes. Taking into consideration reducing maintenance and repair costs, maintaining build quality and enhancing overall customer journey, you will be working in the early stages of a products design life cycle.

Key Responsibilities

These below responsibilities may be split across all Serviceability Engineers or by vehicle programme accordingly to suit business requirements.

Programme Development and Support
• Work within the programme to promote and protect the vehicle service attribute.
• Perform upstream serviceability analysis at product design phase as main GMA representative for programme.
• Carry out digital tooling... feasibility assessments.
• Perform agreed benchmark analysis of competitors for serviceability and cost of ownership, ensuring that high level service targets are adopted and achieved.
• Act as Voice of Workshop / Voice of Customer.
• Submit diagnostic and repair requirements to programme at key stages.
• Track any proposed changes and impact to all live vehicle support.
• Create repair strategies that are in keeping with current business structure, mitigating potential needs for additional service tooling, whilst maintaining overall build quality.
• Stay up to date on industry tooling, evaluate potential benefits and submit requirements for need where appropriate.
• Ensure that option and accessory fitment is incorporated into the vehicle design, minimizing impact to build and quality during vehicle lifecycle.
• Support in all Gateway activities, providing clear reporting throughout.
• Perform physical verification on prototype vehicles.

Tools and Test Equipment
• Specify, develop and deliver the Service Tool and Test Equipment (STTE) portfolio for use against all current and future programmes, maximizing tool reuse where possible.
• Specify and develop practical customer facing tools and equipment.
• Support engineering teams in the development of accessories where appropriate. Service Level Determination
• Create and maintain the Service Bill of Materials (SBoM) by performing Engineering Bill of Material (EBoM) analysis, making amendments/additions where required.
• Determine repair feasibility and additional service level requirements with suppliers as required to ensure service level is achievable whilst retaining overall quality.

Skills, Knowledge And Expertise
• Extensive knowledge of whole vehicle service, maintenance and repair techniques.
• Experience in High Voltage vehicle systems.
• Educated to degree level or equivalent desirable.
• Experience of using CAD visualisation tools (CATIA Experience desirable, but not essential).
• Computer literate – Microsoft Office suite.
• Proven track record for project and task management.
• Bill of Materials or change management experience is desirable.
• Previous experience within a comparable role.
• Approachable and adaptable to change
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proactive and autonomous
• Mobile and willing to travel as required
