About The Role

In this role, you will work with national/state/local government and service authorities in relation to climate change risk, coastal hazard monitoring, adaptation planning and developing strategic plans and programs to increase the resilience of Geelong’s coasts.

Work type: Permanent full-time

Classification: Band 7 ($100,064 - $110,990 pa plus super)

Key responsibilities include:
• Oversee the development and review of Coastal and Marine Management Plans in accordance with the Marine and Coastal Act 2018.
• Lead the assessment of coastal risks and development of adaptation pathways to inform coastal strategies, policies and asset management plans that may relate to multiple crown land managers and stakeholder interest groups.
• Lead multi-agency coastal adaptation partnerships.
• Manage and deliver the Erosion and Landslide Monitoring Program.
• Provide advice on coastal planning referrals and coastal land management issues.

About You

To be successful in this... role, you will have a tertiary qualification in Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Planning or Engineering or a related field with several years’ experience in coastal planning and program implementation.

Essential Experience:
• Project and contract management, in the areas of coastal engineering and coastal processes modelling.
• Community vulnerability and resilience assessments and a thorough understanding of climate change adaptation pathways.
• Demonstrated effective facilitation skills, including the ability to manage multi-stakeholder engagement and consultation.
• Technical expertise in geospatial information systems relating to analysing coastal data, modelling and geospatial mapping.
• Experience in managing budgets, staff, contractors and consultants.
• Experience in developing coastal protection and monitoring techniques relevant to the types of issues identified as part of the program.
• Current Victorian Drivers Licence.
