At Bactery, we are developing soil-rechargeable batteries for the Agri-IoT sector. We are seeking a talented and ambitious Product Design Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will turn our prototypes into cutting-edge products that enhance agricultural efficiency and environmental sustainability. Get ready to be hands-on and unleash your creativity!

What will you do?
• Develop and refine product designs using CAD software.
• Create physical prototypes to validate design concepts.
• Test, test, and test!
• Iterate designs based on feedback from internal teams, customers, and field tests.
• Produce documentation on design processes.
• Research materials and manufacturing processes... to ensure product feasibility.
• Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in precision agriculture.

To succeed in this role, you will need:
• Minimum bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, product design engineering, or a related field.
• Proven track record of product development (hardware), preferably in Agri-tech.
• 2+ years of experience in turning a concept from prototype to product.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic startup environment.
• Strong communication and writing skills.

Company Description:

Bactery is a University of Bath spin-out developing a new way of harvesting clean electricity from soil. Our soil-rechargeable bacterial batteries aka bacteries, capture electrons from the ground, providing a 24/7 source of power. We are on a mission to address the poor energy infrastructure on farms and accelerate the shift towards data-driven agriculture.
