About the Apprenticeship:

Position: Apprentice - Design Engineer

Location: Bournemouth - 2 day release at Farnborough College.

Duration: 4 years

Start Date: 2nd September 2024

A training and development role aimed at developing Design Engineering Apprentices into qualified and competent Aerospace Design Engineers capable of developing engineering data in support of a design change or repair design to aircraft... and sub-components. Under direct supervision Apprentices will learn how to carry out design processes using technical data and design software (CAD, CATIA) to create approved designs that meet customer and regulatory certification requirements.

Due to the remoteness of our site and the requirement to attend training at Farnborough College, access to own transportation is required.

Academic Qualifications:
• Candidates must hold an Engineering (Electronic/Electrical ) HNC or Engineering ( Mechanical) HNC or equivalent to apply for this vacancy.
• 48UCASpointsinrelevantsubject(s) Access 45 Credits at Pass, 15 Credits at Merit in an appropriate subject.
• Mature applicants with relevant experience are strongly encouraged to apply and will be considered on a case-by-case basis. A satisfactory interview and reference will be required.
• Previous experience working with hands or within engineering in a personal or professional environment is desirable but not essential.

On successful completion of all training objectives apprentices should qualify for an Engineering (Mechanical) BEng (Hons) Degree or Engineering (Electrical/Electronic) BEng (Hons) Degree. Further training can be provided by the business following analysis of individuals requirements.

Interviews for 4 vacancies will take place w/c 8th July. All successful candidates will be invited to an inhouse interview day where candidates will participate in activities throughout the day and be asked to deliver a 10 minute presentation on something engineering related that they are interested in. Successful applicants will be invited back the following day for a formal interview.
