Introduction

Optimal is a medium sized construction company with expertise in steel fabrication and engineering,general building as well as civil engineering construction. We are looking for a candidate that will develop and lead the cost and project management function in the organisation.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Proficiently compile and submit tenders, showcasing competency across all related areas.
• Proficient in reading of building plans and technical specifications.
• Utilize excellent site monitoring abilities to oversee project progress and prepare monthly claims accurately.
• Site visits and site measurements.
• Manage day-to-day commercial operations with clients and subcontractors,
• ensuring efficiency and compliance.
• Handle final accounts and their preparation meticulously.
• Possess a solid grasp of industry standards and commercial obligations.
• Exhibit confidence in implementing and monitoring new systems, while adeptly managing expenses and interpreting... costs.
• Report directly to the Business Owner, being accountable for all daily.

Quantity Surveyor responsibilities:
• Determining final costs of projects.
• Demonstrate essential personal qualities such as dynamism.Problem-solving skills, proactive nature, initiative, drive, methodical approach, and exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Client Relationship Management:
• Build and maintain strong relationships
• with clients,consultants, and other project stakeholders.
• Communicate effectively with all parties to understand their needs and expectations,while addressing concerns.

Risk Management:
• Identify and assess project risks related to cost,schedule, and quality.
• Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize exposure and ensure project success.
• Proactively manage changes and deviations from the original project scope to mitigate potential financial impacts.

Desired Experience & Qualification
• Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related qualification.
• Experience in the construction industry of at least 7 years as the main contractor Quantity Surveyor
• Experience working on commercial projects.
• Understanding and experience of contracts and relevant responsibilities under these contracts this includes but is not limited to JBCC, NEC, FIDIC etc.
• Skilled in problem solving and communication with relevant stakeholders
• Valid driver's license.
• Understanding of CSS/Candy software an advantage.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Projects and excel Packages.
