Security Consultant, HashiCorp

Apex Systems is a global IT services provider, and our staffing practice has an opening for a Technical Security Consultant with experience using HashiCorp Vault to place at our client, a Big 5 bank.

Client: Big 5 Bank

Location: Downtown Toronto, 2 days in office

Duration of Contract/Perm: 6-month contract with possibility to extend or convert.

Hours/week: 37.5 hrs

Job Description: The Technical Consultant is a key role in ensuring the successful adoption and governance of Power BI in our organization as it is a powerful low-code/no-code tool that enables rapid data driven decisions and strategies for our business. The Technical Consultant will provide technical consulting and guidance on deploying and managing the Power BI Center of Excellence (CoE) in our organization. The Power BI CoE will be a repository of information, processes, and best practices that help us govern, monitor, and secure the Power BI platform. The Technical Consultant will... also support the Power BI users to ensure that they follow the Power BI CoE standards and policies.

Responsibilities:
• HashiCorp Vault Champion: Perform daily operational tasks, including maintenance, patching, and monitoring of the Vault environment.
• Documentation & Onboarding Guru: Partner with senior resources to create comprehensive documentation and onboarding materials for HashiCorp Vault.
• Collaboration & Communication Star: Participate in project calls, take detailed notes, and actively engage with teams to ensure smooth implementation.
• Ticketing & Support Sensei: Resolve support tickets related to Hashicorp Vault and provide technical assistance to users.
• Knowledge Sharing Mentor: Assist in mentoring junior engineers on PAM operations within HashiCorp Vault, including upgrades and patching procedures.
• Process & Efficiency Advocate: Contribute to streamlining activities and ensure clean execution of tasks within the Vault environment.

Qualifications:
• Hands-on experience working with a secrets management solution, preferably HashiCorp Vault.
• Strong understanding of Cybersecurity governance models, Identity & Access Management (IAM) lifecycles, and Privileged Access Management (PAM).
• Proficient in SSH Key management, Certificate Management, and Secrets management best practices.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience with Agile tools like JIRA, GitHub, and Ansible.
• Proven ability to create thorough and user-friendly documentation (Use Cases, process documents).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Nice-to-Have Skills:
• Background in the financial services industry (a plus, but not required).
