JOB DETAILS:
In line with our corporate priorities aimed at ensuring optimization of revenue collection and increased tax compliance on one hand and the need to effectively manage the numerous challenges and opportunities in the fast-changing business environment on the other, we are seeking highly motivated, result-oriented, well-qualified and experienced professionals to fill the following vacant positions:

14.0 SENIOR ECONOMIST, GRADE ZRA04 (1 POSITION) - RCS DEPARTMENT

A. PURPOSE
Reporting directly to the Assistant Director- Research and Policy, the job holder will be responsible for coordinating research activities aimed at informing tax policy and tax administration decisions as well as managing internal and external stakeholder relations and engagements relating to research work.

B. MAIN DUTIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Conduct comprehensive economic research on relevant topics, including market trends, macroeconomic indicators, and sector-specific issues.
• Coordinating of tax... policy research that includes the preparing research concept notes, formulating of research methodologies, organising of research instruments and production of research output reports.
• Conducting regular surveys to track tax administration performance that includes preparing survey concept notes, formulating survey methodologies and sampling schemes, organising survey instruments and production of survey reports.
• Utilize econometric and statistical methods to analyse data and draw meaningful insights.
• Interpret economic data to identify trends, correlations, and potential areas for policy intervention as it relates to tax policy and administration.
• Develop economic models to forecast the impact of potential tax policy changes.
• Prepare and present research findings, policy analyses, and economic forecasts in clear and accessible formats.
• Contribute to the creation of reports, white papers, and publications for both internal and external audiences.
• Collaborate with foreign tax authorities, government agencies, and industry experts to gather relevant data and insights.
• Provide expertise on tax matters to cross-functional teams and decision-makers.
• Represent the organization in industry conferences, seminars, and public forums.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand their concerns, expectations, and information needs as it relates to tax policy and administration.
• Coordinate the provision of timely and relevant responses to inquiries from stakeholders, addressing their specific concerns as it relates to tax matters.

C. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Grade Twelve School Certificate/General Certificate of Education Equivalent;
• University Degree in Economics, Statistics, Operations Research, Mathematics, Data/Actuarial Science or Engineering;
• Minimum of five (5) years relevant post qualifying working experience;
• Master’s Degree in relevant field will be an added advantage; and
• Must have worked in their current role for a minimum of one year six months.
