Key role is to maintain and develop a profitable portfolio in Korea (focusing mainly on Property, Energy and/or Construction) through his/her relationships with brokers and through new sources, within the guidelines specified at group level that will contribute to the achievement of the underwriting plan.

Who we are

Within SCOR P&C, SBS is the central unit dedicated to insuring the business risks faced by large corporate companies. It has been serving its customers for 45 years and has maintained a continuous presence in the market by upholding a strong technical culture supported by SCOR's best-in-class financial strength rating.

Business activity is structured around four regions (LATAM, NA, EMEA, APAC) through seven global lines of business (Property & Power, Construction, Energy, Casualty/Financial Lines & Executive Risks, Marine/Transport, Political/Credit and Political Violence, Space/Aviation). Clients in each region are served by specialized underwriters who rely on SCOR's technical expertise and client knowledge.

Job Summary
- Contribute to the overall results of the Group by sound technical and profitable underwriting.
- Develop SCOR's market share and leadership position in Large Corporates, Complex Risks and Mega Projects
- Coordinate all marketing activities in APAC, representing overall SBS and SCOR P&C's interest in Korean market.
- Enhance Group image in the market by efficient and innovative support of client needs.
- Actively review new submissions and determine risk quality and pricing terms in line with underwriting guidelines, pricing tools and market conditions.

Responsibilities:
• Generate new offers and promote the Group by pro-active marketing in accordance with the defined strategy and risk appetite.
• Receive, select and evaluate offers of Property, Energy and Construction business from various sources by independently analysing all information including risk engineering reports, calculate ratings, negotiate conditions of the contracts.
• To provide tailor made solutions and ensure a profitable portfolio.
• Contribute to the technical knowledge of sectors in which the jobholder is working.
• To cultivate relationships with clients, brokers and cedents for business development purposes and explore new business potential through these sources.
• Execute growth strategies including Key account management, and Cross Sell Initiatives. Support other SCOR lines by cross selling (Casualty, Alternative Solutions, …).
• Maintain an accurate database of risks accepted in various IT systems used by SBS, e.g. UP, Omega II, SalesForce.
• Produce reports of various formats for reporting purposes as required.
• Contribute to the claims settlement in conjunction with the claims department.
• Positively interact with other departments and colleagues in SBS and elsewhere throughout all Underwriting Centres (Singapore, London, Paris,..)

Special Projects:
• Engage in global underwriting projects and/or transversal initiatives.

Experience:
• 3-5+ years underwriting experience in insurance/reinsurance market in Korea, writing Property, Onshore Energy and/or Construction risks.
• Working experience in international/multinational insurer/reinsurer.
• Proven underwriting skills for insurance program of large corporates and/or mega projects (wordings, quotations).
• Working experience and/or technical knowledge in heavy industry, onshore energy, or construction projects would be advantages.
• Risk management knowledge.
• Reinsurance and insurance knowledge.
• Knowledge of competitors, cedents and brokers within Korea and international market
