Job Summary

If you are selected as the Buyer, you will have functional purchasing responsibilities for an assigned area or function and use standardized procurement processes that meet business needs while adhering to corporate standards and mitigating financial and liability risks. The Buyer efficiently ensures that materials and services are sourced and purchased in a manner that meets the expectations of a broad North American constituent base.

Job Description

Your responsibilities may include:
• Supply Chain Management (SCM): Purchase and make decisions that result in the efficient cost of ownership including:
• Adhering to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Standard Purchasing Process
• Building purchase orders and working with expediting team to coordinate the lifecycle of a purchase order from requisition receipt to supplier payment
• Selecting an appropriate source of supply
• Determining the accurate price that should be paid
• Leading request for quote (RFQ) sourcing events
• Optimize inventory purchasing by leveraging economies of scales across BUs, facilitating transactional automation, providing purchasing analytical insights and strategy proposals for repetitively purchased material
• Strategically source, propose pricebook additions and handle contracts for consistently purchased inventory materials
• Communicating efficiently with suppliers and client groups
• Developing in-depth knowledge of assigned purchasing categories
• Reviewing and concurring authority for purchases up to $100,000
• Identifying and implementing process improvement activities
• Specialize in transactional processes and provide system utilization guidance for efficient transactional activities
• R2P: Representing and advocating on behalf of GST regarding the efficient execution of the Requisition-to-Pay (R2P) process
• Collaboration: Functioning as a key member of the Global Shared Services Purchasing Team and promoting cross-team collaboration
• Cost Control/Value Creation: Guiding and directing client groups on how to efficiently transact business with the GST buying team
• Supplier Management: Developing and maintaining positive relationships with key suppliers to facilitate supplier performance in support of operations
• Compliance: Ensuring all SCM services are conducted as per ConocoPhillips Supply Chain Policy, including all proper documentation, use of systems, approvals, and communications
• Problem Solving: Ability to determine root cause issues and effectively communicate corrective action to vendors, stakeholders or other team members

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
• 3 or more years of experience in purchasing or related field
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft O365 applications: Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams and Word

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Admin/Mgmt, Supply Chain, other related field, or foreign equivalent
• 3 or more years of experience in the oil and gas industry
• Demonstrate intellectual curiosity to understand end-to-end purchasing processes and where value is built
• Efficient verbal and written communication skills
• Internal and external networking skills
• Ability to work with other functions; understand their business needs to efficiently translate them into purchasing activity
• Demonstrated analytical skills, and the ability to craft solutions to sophisticated issues
• Sees opportunities to improve processes, and propose paths to address them
• Efficiently prioritize and handle multiple assignments with tight deadlines
• Commercial acuity
• Self-starter with productive collaboration skills
• Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what is right
