Thinking Big is looking for an intermediate programmer/software developer to assist our client to upgrade the existing ECM Testbed software application to increase functionality and develop techniques and loadsets for ECM equipment. The role will provide support to the Communications Electronic Warfare (CEW) group’s Electronic Countermeasures (ECM) program through the provision of programming services and support, technical policy and guidance for the national utilization of the ECM applications, for which it is the Operational Authority (AO).

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Design detailed programs, flow charts, and diagrams indicating mathematical computation and sequence of machine operations necessary to control laboratory equipment, process data and store the results;
• Translate detailed flow charts into coded machine instructions and confer with technical personnel in planning programs;
• Verify accuracy and completeness of programs by preparing sample data, and testing them by... means of system acceptance test runs made by operating personnel;
• Correct program errors by revising instructions or altering the sequence of operations;
• Document software architectures, flow charts, data formats and operating procedures;
• Evaluate the performance of communications ECM systems using an automated software control application;
• Meet with DND/CAF staff in order to determine ECM loadset requirements and then develop & implement loadsets on ECM equipment;
• Definition and documentation of software requirements;
• Design and implementation of hardware control applications for sensors and/or laboratory measurement equipment;
• Establish and maintain software configuration management processes;
• Develop and maintain software documentation, including design documents and user manuals; and;
• Develop and implement ECM loadsets;
• Other Software Developer-related tasks in support of DRDC ECM activities.

Qualifications:
• A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering or computer science from a Canadian University, or equivalent from a foreign institution, as determined by the Canadian Centre for International Credentials http://www.cicic.ca/en/index.aspx
• A minimum of 5 years of work experience in software design and implementation, within the last 10 years.
• A minimum of 5 years of work experience in the planning, testing, and evaluation of communication protocols using Radio Frequency (RF) laboratory equipment, within the last 10 years.
• More than 5 years of demonstrated work experience within the past 10 years in software design and implementation.
• Experience within the past 10 years working on communications electronic warfare (CEW) systems, including RF transmission, RF reception or RF measurement activities.
• Experience within the past 5 years using and programming with software development environments such as Matlab or
• Python.
• Experience within the past 10 years designing and evaluating communications electronic countermeasures (ECM) systems.
• Experience in the design and implementation of embedded processing applications, within the last 10 years.
• Experience in using Radio Frequency (RF) laboratory equipment within the last 10 years.
• All work requires a complete fluency in spoken English and a complete proficiency in written English.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00-$130,000.00 per year

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
