Senior Consultant, Investments

The opportunity to join our team

This role supports the operation, delivery and continued growth of MLC Asset Management's managed account and investment consulting functions. As an experienced investment SME, this role is a contributor to and conduit between MLC's institutional investment capabilities and our key internal and external stakeholders. This is a highly visible, often client facing role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute at a senior level to various investment consulting, research, governance and distribution related tasks.
• Be a key client contact point for regular market and portfolio related queries.
• Assist the Head of Consulting to grow MLC's external profile through production of various articles, media and presentations at industry and adviser conferences etc.
• Contribute to thought leadership, research of new ideas, product development... and strategic thinking on the evolution of the business.
• Assist the MLC portfolio management team where required with research and analysis on asset allocation, manager selection and implementation.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders within MLC, our external partners and clients.
• Provide SME support to the business development teams in identifying new opportunities, participating in pitches, providing market and competitor insights, strategic marketing etc.
• Apply your deep knowledge and experience to other business tasks as directed by the Head of Consulting.
What you will bring:

• Tertiary qualifications in Finance or Economics, preferably with post graduate qualifications/CFA designation or equivalent
• 10+ years previous work experience in a related field, ideally with a significant proportion of that time spent as an investment consultant, analyst or portfolio specialist with an asset management or investment consultancy firm.
• Experience with and an appreciation for retail advisers and licensees looked upon favourably.
• Solid understanding of best practices in asset allocation, manager selection and multi-asset portfolio construction.
• Experience in managed account operation and implementation, including associated governance processes.
• Experience in applying portfolio analysis tools such as Morningstar, Barra, iRate, etc
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to confidently and professionally communicate technical content at multiple audience levels
• Self-starter, with the ability to take ownership to achieve outcomes.
• Ability to develop professional staff
