About the Team The OMS Query's team mission is to provide scalable and highly performant data services for analytics and reporting from fast queries for big data insights. We are a core part of the Workday platform, working with cloud, concurrent and distributed systems to provide a scalable service for our internal and external customers. About the Role The successful candidate will lead a team of dynamic software developers to build and maintain core platforms that supports application development in a SaaS environment. You will provide overall direction and guidance to the team. Responsibilities: Provide coaching, mentoring and support to the direct report staff in both technical and non-technical issues. Ensure high productivity of the team members. Provide support for their career growth and personal development. Understand the business strategy and goals, translating those into actionable objectives and key results Plan releases and schedule development. Provide estimates and initial assessment for proposed development tasks. Track and report progress of the project against key milestones. Balance resources with task assignments. Ensure on-time and high quality delivery of the project. Collaborate closely with cross functional teams towards operational excellence Keep feature stakeholders updated throughout the development cycle. Provide liaison with relevant parties, including product management, QA, other development teams, production, product support, etc., to facilitate the release process. Manage development related customer escalation when needed. Contribute to process improvement within a development organization. Institute and adopt best engineering practices. About You Basic Qualifications 5 years experience in enterprise software development 3 years experience in leading a software development team Experience in distributed systems, and concurrent programming Familiarity with object oriented (Java or Scala) and functional programming, as well as fluent in patterns for software architecture and design Other Qualifications Passion for software development and building a strong engineering team Strong organizational skills Experience in planning and execution of software development projects Exposure to agile development methodologies Strong ability to mentor developers and solid recruiting and team building skills BS in Computer Science or related fields.
