Roles and Responsibilities:

The European School The Hague (ESH) stands out as a unique educational institution. Established in 2012 to cater to the children of European agency employees, we provide multilingual and multicultural education to students from elementary through high school, culminating in the European Baccalaureate. As an officially recognized European School, we are managed and partially funded by the Dutch education system, accredited by the Board of Governors of the European Schools since December 2012.

Starting from August 1, 2024, we have an opening within our high school for a:

Dutch Teacher

(0.8-1 FTE)

'You will join a warm Dutch-speaking department consisting of 6 dedicated teachers. Our students are generally engaged, helpful, and have a positive attitude. We are seeking a teacher who can recognize personal talents and add value to each student's educational journey. Will you strengthen our team?'

• Second-degree qualification for teaching... Dutch
• Experience in teaching Dutch as both a first and second language

• Experience in international and/or intercultural education
• Experience in differentiated and independent work
• Strong teaching skills and familiarity with IB (Inquiry Based) teaching
• Knowledge of other European languages is a plus
• Willingness to engage in extracurricular activities
• Good ICT skills in an educational context
• Recent teaching experience at the higher secondary level
• Proficiency in the English language

Furthermore, we expect the candidate to:
• Embrace change and actively contribute to school developments
• Demonstrate a high level of independent functioning
• Be flexible and willing to collaborate within an international team
• Possess excellent social and communication skills
• Have good organizational skills

What We Offer:
• An appointment based on the Dutch Collective Labor Agreement for Secondary Education and a salary in line with the relevant teacher scale. The scale level is determined by relevant background and teaching experience
• A permanent contract subject to the recognition of educational qualifications by the Dutch authorities and successful completion of a 1-year probation period
