Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Location: Wakefield WF17

Contract Type: Full-time/Part-time/Temporary/Permanent/Flexible

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Educational Needs and Mental Health (SEMH) Teaching Assistant to join a School in WF17. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs to thrive in their educational journey.

Responsibilities:
• Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
• Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behavior Support Plans (BSPs).
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support students' holistic development.
• Implement strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behavior... effectively.
• Support students in developing social skills and emotional regulation.
• Monitor and record progress, providing regular feedback to the SENCO and teaching staff.
• Contribute to the creation of a nurturing and safe atmosphere within the school.

Requirements:
• Relevant experience working with children and young people with SEMH needs.
• Knowledge of SEMH strategies and interventions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude.
• The ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• A commitment to promoting an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Desirable:
• Relevant qualifications in Special Educational Needs or a related field.
• Training in positive behavior management techniques.
• First Aid Certification

Requirements:
• Eligibility to work in the UK or be a UK resident
• Have an overseas criminal clearance or willing to apply for one
• Have a child enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to apply for one
• Minimum of three months UK residency
• We do not accept those on skilled worker visas
• Please ensure you have references available upon request covering the last 24 months of employment

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
