Overview: The Nurse Practitioner provides services to complex clients who include the individual throughout their lifespan, the family, and the community, with strong emphasis on health promotion, data from multiple sources to make diagnosis, as part of the health care teamSpend adequate time with the client to determine the presence of existing and potential health problems, with a major focus and approved by CMHA Durham and the collaborating physicianDetermine, orders and interprets the results of indicated screening and diagnostic laboratory tests, within the scope of practiceDetermines, orders and interprets the results of indicated diagnostic imaging within the scope of practiceKeeps complete, accurate, legible and timely records of client’s visits, which will provide information to assist other practitioners in continuing the client’s careSees clients at the clinic with scheduled and urgent visitsParticipates as a member of the Emergency Response TeamTreatmentIdentifies and responds to urgent/emergent health issues in collaboration with the Mission United teamProvides advanced nursing care and treatment (including pharmacological, complementary therapies and/or counselling interventions) for complex clients and based on best practices for the target populationPrescribe drugs included in the Schedules of the Regulations to treat diseases or disorders within the RN(EC) scope of practiceMonitors the efficacy and adjusts the clinical care plan to meet client needsDocuments using client health records, refers to and arranges follow-up as necessaryImplements preferredEvidence of professional practice liability insurance requiredSound knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act, and other related legislation in OntarioSound knowledge of psychotropic medications including usage and potential side effectsAbility to manage a system of medication checks ensuring accuracyAbility to develop and maintain positive relationships clients,
