About the role

We are currently seeking a Project Engineer with Civils, Landscaping and Traffic experience to form a key part of our Swan River Project based in Fremantle, Western Australia. This role will focus on coordinating on-site construction engineering activities to achieve... project time, quality and budget objectives safely.

About the Project

The Swan River Crossings Project is one of Main Roads’ WA’s most complex and challenging projects, involving road, port, freight, river, walking, cycling, heritage and environmental considerations.

The Project will replace the ageing Fremantle Traffic Bridge with Australia’s first extradosed bridge, incorporating both cantilevers and cable support, that will create a striking gateway to Fremantle.

The Fremantle Bridges Alliance is a consortium with Arup, WSP and Laing O’Rourke that will design and deliver the project in partnership with Main Roads WA.

The project will:
• Replace the existing Fremantle Traffic Bridge.
• Provide safe and modern standard pedestrian and cycling infrastructure over the Swan River.
• Increase marine safety and navigational clearances for river users.
• Acknowledge both European and Aboriginal heritage of the area through design

Key Responsibilities
• Contribute to the achievement of Laing O’Rourke’s safety targets and zero tolerance of unsafe and un-environmentally conscious working practices and occurrences.
• Coordinate and administer construction engineering activities of the project to ensure that project plans are implemented in accordance with designs and specifications.
• Provide project engineering support to the construction teams to facilitate the construction process.
• Ongoing monitoring and reporting of work progress.
• Direct interface with the construction crews to collect data on information required for project status, cost reporting and forecasting.
• Support the site construction crews with developing and communicating work packages.
• Assist with technical queries.
• Provide direction and supervision for Site Engineers, as required.

You will have
• A degree qualification in Civil Engineering along with experience having worked as a Project Engineer for Tier 1 Construction Contractors.
• Experience in Civil, Traffic and Landscaping on large scale public infrastructure/rail projects.
• A strong commercial acumen.
• A collaborative approach with proven ability to work effectively in a team.
• Strong problem solving, organisational and communication skills.
• A high attention to detail.
