Job Description

We are seeking a Sales Executive to join our successful Australasian Journals and eBooks commercial team, in a role which offers both autonomy and variety. You will have a strong focus on achieving and exceeding annual sales targets and report to the Head of Institutional Sales. You will be an important member of the team in helping us drive increased sustainable revenue in both our eBook and journals portfolios across a defined geographic territory. Your role will include forging and maintaining strong, positive, and long-lasting client relationships.

What you’ll be doing:
• You will provide the highest level of sales support and ongoing account management service, to our institutional customers throughout your territory. You will be responsible for selling our eBook, Journals and researcher solutions.
• Cultivate strong, holistic relationships with the customer base, working to ensure that trading with each account is sustainable, profitable and delivering a high level of customer satisfaction
• You will be responsible for identifying business opportunities and driving new sales and pursuing new prospect opportunities to drive additional revenue
• Report periodically to managers on sales progress and the business environment, this ensuring responsiveness to both the micro and macro trading conditions.
• Actively liaise with stakeholder departments or groups within the business to enhance T&F’s coverage of the territory – includes editorial, marketing, and sales support
• All other tasks that come with being a great salesperson. This will include updating databases, providing great presentations, and shaping the way we work with our customers. You will need to understand everything about your customer’s business and how to add value to it.

What we are looking for:
• Experience of working in a sales environment, with an understanding of the demands placed on sales and the support needs of a sales team
• Knowledge of the academic publishing industry, university or library sector (desirable)
• Competent user of core MS Office package
• You will be motivated, positive and a natural salesperson.
• The ability to work independently and pro-actively, with awareness of when to need to delegate tasks
• Consultative sales skills and a customer focused approach
• Willingness to travel on territory and to conferences as required by the company
• Be tech savvy, comfortable with device usage and inspired by the latest digital trends
• Ability to create and maintain positive and effective relationships with the sales team and other internal colleagues.
• A clear communicator, comfortable communicating in writing and verbally, with excellent grammar and spelling
• Good analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills
